What I'm Waiting On...

Title: Never Always Sometimes
Author: Adi Alsaid
Publisher: Harlequin Teen
Publication Date: August 4, 2015
Never date your best friend

Always be original

Sometimes rules are meant to be broken

Best friends Dave and Julia were determined to never be cliché high school kids—the ones who sit at the same lunch table every day, dissecting the drama from homeroom and plotting their campaigns for prom king and queen. They even wrote their own Never List of everything they vowed they'd never, ever do in high school.

Some of the rules have been easy to follow, like #5, never die your hair a color of the rainbow, or #7, never hook up with a teacher. But Dave has a secret: he's broken rule #8, never pine silently after someone for the entirety of high school. It's either that or break rule #10, never date your best friend. Dave has loved Julia for as long as he can remember.

Julia is beautiful, wild and impetuous. So when she suggests they do every Never on the list, Dave is happy to play along. He even dyes his hair an unfortunate shade of green. It starts as a joke, but then a funny thing happens: Dave and Julia discover that by skipping the clichés, they've actually been missing out on high school. And maybe even on love.

Why I'm Waiting...

I'm kind of cheating with this one because I have an ARC, but I haven't read it yet. Shhhh. But it's not really cheating because I haven't read it.

I don't know why, but I'm obsessed with the idea of breaking the mold or not being a stereotyped person, even though it seems like it's impossible. Did it work for me in high school? Well... I don't know. I was in the marching band, but I was never really labeled as a band geek or anything. Plus I never really fit in with a lot of the people there, so maybe it did. Maybe I wasn't stereotyped. Who knows.

Never Always Sometimes looks like it's going to be a fun and entertaining read, and I cannot wait to see how Julia and Dave follow and don't follow their rules. Plus it looks like it is going to have a pretty cute romance.

  2. Doesn't it? I might even have to read this one before I read his debut because it seems like it's going to be such a cute, little book.

    Thanks, Grace! :)

I'm waiting for this one too! I haven't read his debut yet, but it's on the top of my TBR pile. I like the idea of breaking down stereotypes, especially in the high school years. So many people get stuck into them!
