Soundtrack Saturday (17)

Hello, Hardcover Lover readers! It's Saturday, so that means it's time for another edition of Soundtrack Saturday!

In case you're a new follower or just noticing this meme, here's what it's all about:

Soundtrack Saturday is a book meme that I created so I can share my love of music with my readers. There is a catch, though... The soundtracks are book soundtracks! As with all bookish memes, there are a few steps to follow to help you create your own Soundtrack Saturday post:

  • Choose a book that you've read
  • Create a mini or full soundtrack for that book based on characters and plot details
    • For more detailed instructions, visit the meme's homepage.
  • Please credit me somewhere in your post
    • It can be as simple as "Soundtrack Saturday was created by Erin at The Hardcover Lover.
  • Please comment on my post, so I can be sure to check out your post
  • Add your name to the link-up tool
As you may or may not know, I binge read the Burn for Burn series by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian at the end of December. My last two Soundtrack Saturday posts have been about the first two books in the series, Burn for Burn and Fire with Fire, so it only seems fitting to give Ashes to Ashes its own book soundtrack.

"Vesper's Goodbye" by Nick Jonas & The Administration
"Asleep" by The Smiths
"I'm a Mess" by Ed Sheeran
"Crazy" by Kat Dahlia
"Set Fire to the Rain" by Adele
"More Heart, Less Attack" by NEEDTOBREATHE
"Secrets" by OneRepublic
"Still Into You" by Paramore
"Let Her Go" by Passenger
"Once Upon Another Time" by Sara Bareilles
"Glass" by Thompson Square
"Begin Again" by Taylor Swift

As always, feel free to let me know what you think of my soundtrack in the comments. If you made your own book soundtrack this week, be sure to add your name to the link up!
Happy reading!

  1. I have been so into Ed Sheeran's X album lately - I'm A Mess is one of my favourite songs. Secrets by OneRepublic is another favourite song.
I'm still yet to read this trilogy, but I might get to it this year. I'm looking forward to it though - I'm so glad that you liked it.

    1. OMG. I love that album so much! It's perfection.

If you read it, you'll have to let me know what you think. It was definitely one of those series that really surprised me because I didn't think I would like it at all.

  2. I love this playlist! It pairs nicely with Ashes to Ashes! Let Her Go especially is nice for Reeve and Lillia and Begin Again for the epilogue (although I feel like Begin Again gives the epilogue more interest than it possessed itself, with the relationships all forgotten.) Great list:D

    1. Thank you! I really wanted to get that through to people who've read it, so I'm so glad you got the Lillia and Reeve connections to those songs!

I felt like Begin Again could work for basically all of the characters at the epilogue, but definitely for Lillia. That epilogue just didn't work for me because it felt so out of place, almost like the start of a fourth book like way in the future. lol

  3. Ohh I was thinking of exactly Set Fire to the Rain as a song for this book! Just think it goes so well with the contemporary ambiance of the story! LOL Nice choices.

    1. Yes! And I love how the anger of the song fits the tone of the book.

      Thanks, Alex! :)

    1. No, no, no! You're not terrible. It only came out this year, and I only read the trilogy this year.

      Thanks, Erica! :)
